Musical Time Travel, Dirty Talk, and Food Play

Hello beautiful beings

It’s late at night and Lou Reed is playing over my living room speakers. Dancing a fine line of inspiration and desperation, the lyrics of Dirty Boulevard dance their way through the air. It turns songs and Walk On The Wild Sidetakes its turn, memories coming back to me of 1995 sitting in a café with bottomless coffee and creamer in Portland as I talk with sex workers and queer punks about life, love, hope, and trying to find places to crash away from a home that was toxic. That amazing 1972 single whose A-side was “Perfect Day” is such a double-header for me, with that song becoming the “our song” for my Master in London 4 years later.

Music can be a truly powerful time machine. Can you close your eyes and remember a song that takes you somewhere, somewhen, so clear that you can taste the air and feel the temperature in the room? I have some songs that hurt so much that it feels like they cut in, and others that even an opening few beats can lift me up from a dark depression. “What About Your Friends” transports me to school corridors and teen decisions to talk about safer sex with my peers. With “Both Hands” I am curled up with my first girlfriend as we play the mix tape she made me over and over again. “Bad Myth In Genesis” takes me to my mother smirking at me as I dove into my baby feminist anger.

Music can take us forward in time as well. Meredith Muse, my co-conspirator in crafting ritual sensuality, and I have been trading music back and forth to building mixes for our Embodied~Erotic 2-day experience at the end of the month. Between that and the dance party in April too I see that by visioning music into the future we craft the swaying hips of people we have not even met yet.

All of our senses can do this… help us time travel. A bite of a grandparent’s cookie recipe. The smell of cigars in a dusty old club. The soft slip of silk across your skin. Lights flickering at just the right speed through the blinds into your bedroom window. Hell, even laughter like this Friday night can take us through to a different stamp in history. This month I will be looking at the senses a lot in the Weekly Wednesday series actually, starting with food play. Which senses do you use to time travel?

The Dirty Talk Game Show pits four naughty-tongued panelists fighting each other and the clock to say just the right thing. In turn each naughty panelist is given a topic to talk about for sixty seconds without repeating themselves, pausing too long, or deviating from the subject (They can be deviants, they just can't deviate from the subject). If they do any of that, the other panelists pounce and steal the timer and finish it out. The winner with the most naughty points will be crowned the Filthiest Mouth in San Francisco. Join us to and help cheer me on!

From pudding wrestling to floggings with kale, blindfolded delights to “force feeding,” food play offers a wide array of opportunities for kinksters, sadomasochists, sensualists, and erotic explorers of all sorts. Join us as we discuss a wide array of ways that adults can play with their food! Whether it is the classic trope of licking whipped cream off of a lover or serving as a human platter at a party, there are so many opportunities for exploration from sweet to spicy as it were. We will discuss why folks are drawn to playing with food (whether based in joy to trauma), health and safety awareness, creative ways to explore, and share personal stories as well.
A $1-25 donation is encouraged for the Weekly Wednesday series, but none is required to attend.

I also have other classes and events coming up in the next few weeks!
