Trans Allyship, D/s, Ethics, and Sacredness
Hello beautiful beings!
I write to you from my wonderful new desk chair, having spent the morning attending a class at QueeRope, a queer and rope bondage crossover event hosted by Karada House in Berlin. One of the silver linings, the delights, the points of beauty out of this year that has caused such hurt, harm, and heartache has been having events like QueeRope become available worldwide. True, I’m having to be online by 8am to attend the 3rd class slot (if I want to attend live), let alone 330am for the first class slot… but compared to having to travel to Germany – wow! And? This conference as well as many other online conferences (but not universal) is that they make the recordings available for a week or month afterwards to attendees… so tonight I can go back and watch what I missed at 330am yesterday. If you are interested in rope bondage, and would love to see queer-spectrum teachers from around the world share excellence, check it out.
The next week is going to be action packed for me. I’m teaching on tools for being a trans ally and seeing coaching clients. I’ll be sharing various paths to using rope as sacred ritual and holding a discussion on our ethics for doing our kink around others. I’m diving into some body self-care, having an intake with a new therapist, and teaching on power exchange dynamics with awareness of who we are actually with. Add reading and writing projects, attending a digital party for a friend, getting back into my tarot groove, and some other stuff too… wow. I’ve just enjoyed a frozen banana-vanilla-peanut butter-pumpkin spice protein shake and am diving on in!
Thinking of diving in, part of this week will also be getting together digitally with Meredith Muse as we work on our intensive for the end of the month! Ticket sales are open and available for our Embodied~Erotic 2-day experience. Check it out! It also includes the delight of getting rope on with a friend after both going over our Covid-pod realities and making sure everyone is safe and sound… wow. Surreal.
This coming week, come join me at:

You remember to call someone by the pronoun and name they use.. good enough, right? So many people who want to ally themselves to transgender and gender diverse individuals are not aware of the wide array of ways they can help make life easier for them! Through a panel discussion, presentation, group discussions, and resource sharing, this course is a chance for people who want to build skills for allyship to learn to do so, without continuing seemingly positive things that may accidentally be causing harm. Professionals, friends, partners, and individuals of all sorts that are or want to be allies are encouraged to attend. Transgender and gender diverse individuals attending can learn how to support each other further, and build tools for helping others help them as well - including empowering their allies to do the work so that the trans people don't have to keep doing the heavy lifting. This is about more than pronouns. This is about culture-shifting at every level of society while also supporting people one on one. Let's all work together to make this a better world for everyone.

Rope bondage. Shibari. Kinbaku. When many people think of erotic restraint, images of intense pornography often come to mind. This is only one small sliver of what ropework can be used for. In this discussion, Lee Harrington will explore how this powerful tool can create amazing art on the canvases of our lovers' bodies, or be used for transformative rituals of intimacy and healing. This simple concept of wrapping lines around a beloved (or ourselves) can tap into the power of our sensuality, mindfulness, passion, and delight. Kink scenes can challenge us into cathartic ordeals, emotional transformation, and dancing between the worlds in transcendent scenes. Rope has the power to be used as a diverse energetic, spiritual, and magical tool. Bring your curiosity and open up to the possibilities this often misunderstood tool can hold.

If Beyonce can wear ballet boots in a music video, can we do so walking downtown? Whether doing bondage in public locations, or using words like “master” and “slave” for a relationships at a restaurant, people have different opinions on the notion of consent for the viewer. This nuanced concept carries over within kink community gatherings as well – how do we feel about people doing scenes that might make others uncomfortable at public events or at private play parties? In this discussion we will break down the notions of complex consent for the viewer, examine our own personal ethics, and share our own stories that have led to our current thoughts on the issue. This is a muddy topic, so be prepared as well for people in the space having different opinions from your own, so we can all use it as a chance to learn from each other’s perspectives.
A $1-25 donation is encouraged for the Weekly Wednesday series, but none is required to attend.

Power permeates our every interpersonal interaction, from how we interact with the grocery clerk to our kink in the bedroom, and there is a difference between unconscious and conscious power use. However, in a variety of alternative sexuality and BDSM populations, these concepts are eroticized, often glossing over the context where these consensual erotic power plays come from. Let’s examine where power arises unconsciously or through oppression in culture, various types of power exchange dynamics, and why people would want to engage in them (for an evening, a long-term connection or between lifetimes). This will include conscious and unconscious roles, bonding within relationships, and even destructive behaviors. Power is power, but inequality is not inequity, so let us look at this together with eyes wide open.
