More Shibari Fundraiser Extended - More Bondage, More Chances to Help!
An email came in a few days ago saying the person wished they could contribute to the fundraiser for More Shibari You Can Use. And in the past few days, I've had more...A time comes in the life of every fundraiser that has a deadline as to whether you will close it as originally set - or whether you will extend it. While I was debating the issue of contacting Indiegogo... they reached out to me. For those who don't know, Kickstarter did not run my project because it had an adult theme (even though it has no explicit pornography). Indiegogo on the other hand has treated me very well, and when an issue of complaints arose, all they asked was that images of nipples be edited out of the promo video so that no one can complain. That the theme of the book is lovely - but nipples are apparently scandalous to other viewers :)So I sat with it yesterday. And today. And this afternoon I replied to them and decided to extend the fundraiser to their maximum 60 days total. So yup, that "29 days left" is correct on the site.http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/more-shibari-you-can-useWhy did you extend it?Because I honestly need the $40k+ to make the print run happen (the one needed to get stuff to Amazon, bookshelves, etc). And I've already had banks turn me down for a loan for printing due to, you guessed it, adult material. And every dollar helps. Every contributor makes a difference, truly. If I don't raise the full funds, the money is going in the bank and not being touched (beyond funds needed for perks and paying off the editors, ebook, etc), and I will release the two books as ebooks for the time being. As the checks for ebook sales come in, they will get thrown in that same account... until I raise the funds for the print run.
Will this affect the funders so far or the perks?Not at all. The ebook is already off to the layout folks, and as soon as it gets done, the funders will get them. No delay at all. And we are starting the process for getting the books to the printers at this very time - I just got mockups for the first chapter from my print layout guy and they look gorgeous. Whether we raise the money or not, folks who contribute for print books will get their perks as promised, and the delay in closing the Indiegogo campaign does not change folks getting their perks.Why are you telling us all of this?Because since you are funding the project, this is a community effort. I want to be as transparent as possible and keep you up to date. Reach out to me with ideas of helping make this happen. Fund as a way to give a Valentines Day gift, a Saint Patrick's day gift (hey, I'm half Irish, why not), as a way to be part of something nifty.
