Move The Crown Part 2 : Think Big
As I mentioned in my previous post, on Thursday the 26th I had the pleasure, and challenge, of attending True+Paid+Good in Manhattan, NY. It was an intense day that kicked my ass… and I am still slowly chewing through it all. After Terry Young’s culture systems presentation, my brain was already full. That’s not a good sign. When our brain feels full, it’s often nice to sit down and process. Let our bellies, our bodies take it in. Otherwise, we gorge, gorge, try to take it all… and that one wafer thin piece leads to us spewing all over the place. Later that day, it was exactly what happened. I did not do okay. I took in too much… and paid the price for it. It could have been much worse, I have learned a lot of tools for processing over the years… but yeah, I pushed it too far.But before all of that unfolded, I was taking it all in.One of the amazing things about many mastermind groups, is the chance for people to get up and share, have folks ask questions, receive feedback, and share their experience. Everyone learns by seeing others share their visions, and see how others ask questions. I found myself inspired by each of the alumni who took the stage... but never in the same way twice. The first alumnist to take the stage was a woman whose work, and friendship, and love, inspire me deeply. Her name is Zahava, and if you don’t know about LoveMakingDances ((warning, audio)), you should. Actually, she still has some slots left for her Women’s Sacred Alchemy course in NYC, which starts soon, so please check it out. And if you are long distance, she has a life-altering women’s empowerment/sacred touch/body awareness series too, though the current round is sold out.Her presentation began with dance. With movement. Her life and love and breath and truth is through the body, and her somatic perspective is powerful. I have cried after receiving her massage work, and her dance evokes emotion as well. As I was watching her, and her visual background, I also was flashing back to teaching at ASU about 1st Person Perspective on the Adult Industry, and the power of working with PowerPoint if it’s done right, if it is graphical and focusing. About doing my Sacred Body Mod class and the slideshow I put together. Yup, I need to get over my fears around tech… and find their balance with being present with our conversational selves. Her voice echoed out about breaking out of our Victim-Martyr-Oppressor stories. Of telling our stories of who we are, rather than simplify ourselves into the archetypes of our past pain. The second woman to took the stage, Cheryl Derricotte, is doing work on 30 minute readings to change your life. But what ended up bubbling up was a single project she is working on – a book on practical tools for helping those who are caring for someone who is dying. Dealing with doctors, wills, and so much more. She jokes that the tips she gives on saving money on hospital parking will cover the cost of the book. She spoke of shame. That so many folks are dealing with this, but that we don’t want to talk about it. That the person we are caring for is dying, that us sharing our suffering somehow takes away from them, that we should be able to do it ourselves. As the audience came with questions and ideas alike, it was amazing. She had been asking small – how do I get this book in a few hands. The room spoke big – I want to put you in touch with the funeral director society. I want you to meet with the folks I know in international oncology organizations. This is not just about some people – this is for a *lot* of people. And they need it. This is about changing the world, not just you getting a paycheck. But getting this out there will do both.It reminded me of my self-love book. That it is whispering, that it needs to go out. I hear it whispering. And that I, yes, I, can make the world amazing. I already am, but just as I spoke about tithing, changing the world has the capacity to be scalable. When we touch individual lives, we make deep impact. The requirement to change the world is to let that ripple out.If I have touched your life, let it ripple out.Let’s change the world together.
