Hello beautiful beings,

I write to you from the Baltimore, Maryland area, loading up the gear from the staff of Camp Crucible as we prep to pack in for this amazing 9-day event. Over breakfast we talked about what has been happening on the DC venue The Crucible for which the event is named, and it is fantastic to hear about all of the events that have been happening there from dance parties to dungeons, weddings to safe spaces for often oppressed populations. It has also been beautiful talking about the founder of this space, "Uncle Frazier," who passed away a few years ago and they are still processing the power of this amazing character. If you never got to meet him, you missed out... but attending venues like The Crucible help keep his memory alive.

I'm also excited to be attending Dark Odyssey: Fusion at the end of the month from June 21-27. I will be teaching two classes while at Dark Odyssey Fusion: Erotic Macrame and Beings of Faith and Desire. I will also be leading a grief and ecstasy ritual, a closing ritual, and my shapeshifter gender ritual. I love Dark Odyssey so much and have been attending since 2003, and even have the logo tattooed across the entirety of my left thigh from my 10-year anniversary of attending, so it is literally in my skin.

In our culture we are taught that the ideal relationship is one between equals – but some of us are drawn to power exchange, dominance, submission, service, surrender, and control for a variety of reasons. For some this is a fun roleplaying activity in the bedroom, and for others there is a calling from deep within to make this a reality in everyday life. We will discuss the variety of types of dominant/submissive and leader/follower relationship systems and structures out there, look at our own desires and fears with these sorts of play or relationships, and see how we can incorporate the parts that call to us into our sex lives or world at large.

When power exchange is discussed in many circles of BDSM, the notion of power being literally exchanged is often glossed over or forgotten. Whether you are kinky or not, conscious constructions of interpersonal dynamics can be an intense tool for accessing life force and the dance of it between individuals or a group. We will look at types of conscious and unconscious power exchange dynamics, why people would want them for an evening or between lifetimes, and how to apply this technology to your own magical work, energetic feeding, and life. From June 21 through June 27, campers can explore a kinky state fair, splash around at the Wet and Thumpy Pool Party, participate in kinky rituals, and so much more!
