Beautiful beings,The frost has hit the ground up here in Alaska, while just last week I was in 80 degree heat. It is being surreal.It’s been about a month since my last update, and I wanted to let folks know where the project stands. I have the final drafts of the interior and exterior of Book 1 in my hand. It is being sent off to ebook conversion shortly, where I will then get to see what it looks like, do some edits and make sure all the internal links are inserted (yup, if it says “see step 5 on page XXX, it will just link to the document and take you to the page), and get the funds off. This has been a learning experience, and a depressing/painful one at times. The entire first ebook had to be scrapped when we laid out the print book and realized some segments needed moved around, some steps were not as clear as desired, and more.The bonus is that it is honestly a better project than it would have been. However, it is coming out months later than desired, as you have likely noticed.With the finals of Book 1 in hand, I am also signing contracts after looking at printing costs for them, etc. We look to be doing 2000 copies of each book, with 210 going up to Alaska for signed books and model copies, 175 going to the Midwest to do shipping for non-signed books, and 50 being sent to our delightful photographer. For book 2 the numbers will be similar. The rest of each run will be being sent to our distributor/book housing company, whom I cannot finalize negotiation with until print book date is set.The plan is that Book 1 will do ebook, then hit the ebook market, while I see the final color copy mockups for Book 1. During that window, Book 2 will be finishing its layout, go to editing, edit it, and then get the finals off to ebook and layout. Book 2 will do ebook and mockups… and when both print books are ready, we will hit the “go” button on the final product.So that is where we stand.
