Accessing Kink: BDSM and Disabilities

Being a being with often invisible disabilities can be frustrating on a number of levels. Not being able to sit on a zoom call because my hips are being problematic affects the schedules of others. Having problems walking because of intense vertigo limits where I can go. Having my mood disorder affect my upbeat way I try to approach the world can be frustrating. But people, unless you live in the skins of people whose bodies and minds do not do what other bodies and minds can do affect our sexuality too. When my hands are tremmoring it affects my ability to tie, while my circulation issues affects how I get tied. My vertebrae slipping in and out is disconcerting or debilitating in the middle of being fucked. In talking to one of my lovers, they framed it that much of what is deemed problematic when being sexual as a person with disabilities is that there is a perception of what "normal" sex or kink should look like. The idea that bodes can or should be able to participate in specific ways, and that there is judgement is you can not meet those assumed norms.  What would it look like if we didn't have these assumptions? How would our collective sexual journey look if there was no fear or judgement in sharing where are bodies at at? That feeling of being seen mid-sex when a partner asks "what position would work better for us right now," and made it not feel like an inconvenience. Feeling loved through the act of all of us thriving.  This coming week I will be leading my kink and disabilities class for Karada House.
