Thoughts on Sex Magic
The following is what I just posted to a question on Phoenix Society NW to a person who wanted to know about sex magic. They mentioned that they'd done some magic and tantra work before, but wanted to get into Sex Magic and may be looking for books, teachers, etc... here was my response. I'd appreciate feedback and thoughts I could pass on to this person, but until I get more info from this person about what they want, I'm at a pause. But if you have good leads on Sacred Sexuality in general, I'd love to start collecting them. I just joined This Group for individuals who are Dominant Female Priestesses and Goddesses and their worshippers... but just asked them if I was even welcome- we'll see what they say. Here's the issue T,Sex Magic is as personal as Magic is, even moreso. Some folks are drawn to a particular path- for example Anton (our of NYC) is an Erotic and Universal Tao Instructor who runs SexySpirts.com. I have attended a few of his classes on the multi-orgasmic man, breath working, etc... and to be honest, as Toaism is not my own path, part of the techniques worked for me, and a lot of it just didn't echo. Learning Satanic Sex Magik work for example is not the path to follow if yo are by nature a Druid. Make sense? There are a few different schools of though from my experience on what Sex Magic is for:1) It's fun! Sex, ritual, touching god, multiple orgasms, wearing antlers in the sack, hzah!2) Sex Magic is ONLY of serious workings and with such rituals as the Heiros Gamos, should only be invoked at specific times of year or when the magical workings are needed and important. Raising energy in the name of the Divine and then doing nothing with that energy is disrespectful and not unlike crying Wolf and then later expecting folks to believe you. Do magic for no reason and wallow in it, then later expect it to work great energy when you NEED it? It doesn't make sense.3) Sex magic is about bringing greater deepeing of connections between 2 or more individuals and is about tapping into the Divine spark in each of us for bettering our sex life and communication on a soul-level.4) Sex magic is only true if you follow a specific set of chants, words, workings, invocations, evocations, and god damn it who forgot to light the yellow candle in the east- the magic will obviously fail if we don't get it right. This is about the way that it was passed down from my teacher's teacher's teacher's teacher who recieved it as a vision.5) Sex magic is about no true path but what you hear echoing in your own heart. Follow your intuition and it will all be right. Today the universe told you to sing loudly on a mountain top then get fucked up the ass while saying you are cleansing yourself with the purity of the sun. Cool, go for it, you make up the rules.and so on.Those are just the major thought systems. There are tons of folks in the middle and in between. Folks who are Gnostic for example and must invoke certain Angelic and God forms for everything to work- but what candles? what words? what types of sex? That's up in the air. What type of sex magic do you want? Is this about getting pregnant and wanting it to be a holy union? Is this about needing healing as a couple? is this about you wanting to be ridden by a Goddess-form while your partner submits to the will of She Who Knows? Is this just about putting on some circlets and fucking like bunnies and screaming "Oh God"?It's up to you.You spoke about wanting to maybe find a teacher- to do that, you need to have some vague idea of what you want as students. You mentioned you already do magic- what path is yours? This list may not be the right place to answer that... but it's something to consider. For example- the OTO and AA have rituals of Aphrodite and Gnostic/Black Masses where sex-magic is worked. If you are with the OTO/AA, consider talking to your local high priest/ess about such sacred initiation work. If you are a Taoist or Buddhist, think about getting ahold of SexySpirits.com, JadeGoddess.com, etc. If you are into Tantra (as your yahooid implies), there is a great group here in Portland called Explorers Club (http://www.explorers-club.com/) that hosts monthly Pujas you might enjoy. So, that help a bit? Feel free to email me off-list if ya like. I'm just throwing out info.As for your last question- what is an Erotic Healer? I have done one-on-one work as a Priestess to help folks heal their bodies or souls. I've been blessed with trust from folks who were raped as children to get over their fear of a specific type of play, heled folks who lost loved ones to regain their sexuality or interest in BDSM play, designed rituals for individuals challenged by being cast out of relationships and needing to be born-anew, etc. Some folks need healing in ways that drugs don't work- I've been blessed to help a few of them out. Hard work, but worth it.Cheers,Bridgett Harringtonhttp://www.ropelover.com
