“I want to write to write.”

In the United States, I have a close friend named Jim Forest. When I first met him eight years ago, he was working with the Catholic Peace Fellowship. Last winter, Jim came to visit. I usually wash the dishes after we’ve finished the evening meal, before sitting down an d drinking tea with everyone also. One night, Jim asked if he might do the dishes. I said, “Go ahead, but if you wash the dishes you must know the way to wash them.” Jim replied, “Come on, you think I don’t know how to wash the dishes?” I answered, “There…

Letting Go Of Judgment

I was writing today… such a simple thing hit me full force in my body, aching and quaking in my skin. What I wrote: If we go into judgemental behavior, think “huh, that was judgmental” rather than “I am such an ass for being judgmental.”  The first is an action, the second is an identity.  The first is what happened, the second is a story about it. I added the lines after I paused, and realized what I had just written. How often have I said “I am stupid,” “I am afraid,” “I am…” I am not these things.  They…

Dear Lee: See and be SEEN

Today a shaman wrote me, their own struggles painfully reflected in mine.  The difference was that my tribe had stepped up to feed me, and theirs had not. My fingers spoke back. I hear your feeling of isolation, disconnect and uncertainty around support.  For a long time, I felt very similar… though the feeling of separation will likely exist for all of life because as spirit workers we walk between.  We sit at the edge of the tribe, out in the wilderness, and walk the way in and out of the worlds. However, what I have found is that there…

August Podcast- Going Offroad: Jute, Authenticity, Challenges and Love

On this month’s podcast, I go offroad by setting out without a pre-set map.  We begin at Rope Camp, and find ourselves wandering through trying out new rope, awareness, love, connection, tribal affiliations, the meaning of “I have to” and a little bit of porn thrown in… http://www.eroticawakening.com/ea134-going-off-road-jute-authenticity-challenges-and-love/ Ball in the image provided by Passional Boutique.  Boy in the ball is Aiden Fyre.   If so moved…

Let the Lines Run Deep

Epiphany can be intoxicating.  It can feel like an aha, strike on high from the Gods, a lightbulb being turned on and shining light into the shadows of a fearful existence.  Wake me up, slap across the face… but what do you do about it in the morning? Time and time again I see individuals, myself included, have these amazing moments… and then do little with them.  Catharsis junkies attending the same shamanism or tantra 101 weekend year after year, having the same realization about their intrinsic sacred value, only to come back the next year to “wake up” again…

Listening to my Exhaustion

Our bodies have profound wisdom. This skin suit we have is so full of information, capacity, knowledge… it picks up things we could never hear, never see.  It understands things our conscious mind is never aware of.  I am blessed by my body, blessed for my body. And yet, how often have I not listened? I work contract projects.  I get hired to come in, do a thing, and leave.  And yet, to teach that class, run that ritual, facilitate that discussion, drive that intensive… there is hours, days, weeks or even months of work in advance.  A 2 hour…

I Consent To The Journey

Those words keep echoing in my head tonight. “I consent to the journey.” Today I interviewed Mollena, Dan and dawn for my podcast.  The conversation topic was consent, and the journey rambled from place to place, story to story, feeling to word to deed.  It was funny and sad and delicious… as it needed to be. At the end of the podcast, Dan asked what would happen if he went to Raven, gave him a deer skin pouch, and said “take me on a journey.”  Take me where spirit leads you.  Would he be okay if Raven fucked him up…

Why?

“Why is the sky blue?” “Why are people starving in the world?” “Why did they die?” The child mind wants to know and understand the world.  Why, why, why?  Tell me more, let me absorb knowledge, let me understand. And yet, when the adult mind hears the question Why, it seems as if it triggers an egoic reaction.  If we do not know Why, to whatever the Why is, we can feel ignorant, uninformed, or as if there was some sort of cheating that took place in the world.  “I don’t know why the sky is blue” the mind says,…
