Hello beautiful beings,
I am nervous and buzzing. Excited and uncertain. Delighted and breathing deep. Why? Because I am launching into my first online Delving Into Power intensive this evening.
Though I have been hosting these events since 2009, this is my first time doing so without everyone sharing the same physical room when doing the Work and the Joy of exploring our power exchange and authority exchange relationships and desires. I’ve been asked by folks in remote areas for this for years, but it has taken this time of pain and challenge to find the juice to do it. I have stacks of Jamboards ready to use, slides to share, polls to use, planned breakout groups and group discussions, music to enjoy, and even a ridiculous video to share. I am feeling so grateful to folks like Dr. Pavini Moray, Bill Taverner, Meredith Muse, and various others who have been helping me up my game in online teaching, bit by bit. I’m so honored that 18 attendees and 2 discussion facilitators are trusting me on the next step with this intensive that I love so much.
On the note of teaching and gratitude, my heart is still feeling so energized from this week’s Wednesday discussion on The Queerness of Magic and the Magic of Queerness. For people who couldn’t make it, here is a reading list that I shared with everyone that was designed by myself and Tai Fenix Kulystin. Lots of engaged folks and we ended up wandering in all kinds of directions from Jewish mysticism to modifying Wiccan rituals, ancestral worship to world mythology. I’m particularly chewing on the notion that in many religions worldwide, initiator/world creator deities are often non-gendered in old texts, and only through patriarchal translations is “G*d” turned into being a man.
The other class that happened this week was Power Exchange, Power Dynamics: Conscious Inequality, Dominance, and Submission. My body was so revved up after people sharing their intimate moments of abuse in D/s, or the delight they have in authority exchange dynamics, and it took me 2 episodes of Designated Survivor to chill enough to sleep. I’ve had folks ask if I am offering it again any time soon… I am! This Tuesday. Check it, and the Wednesday discussion on Humor and Sex in the details below.
This week, come join me at:

Power permeates our every interpersonal interaction, from how we interact with the grocery clerk to our kink in the bedroom, and there is a difference between unconscious and conscious power use. However, in a variety of alternative sexuality and BDSM populations, these concepts are eroticized, often glossing over the context where these consensual erotic power plays come from. Let’s examine where power arises unconsciously or through oppression in culture, various types of power exchange dynamics, and why people would want to engage in them (for an evening, a long-term connection or between lifetimes). This will include conscious and unconscious roles, bonding within relationships, and even destructive behaviors. Power is power, but inequality is not inequity, so let us look at this together with eyes wide open.

We’ve each had those moments — when the vibrator goes flying or the stereo goes off with just the wrong song, and suddenly sex has turned into hilarity. But looking beyond the accidents that make for funny stories later, how can we incorporate humor and comedy to purposefully add spice, connection, intimacy or variety to our bedroom (and other) erotic adventures? Exploring the different schools of comedy from absurdity and slapstick to satire, black comedy and dry observation, we will see how each can be included in our sexual escapades. Whether you are using humor to try something new, push a boundary, look back on past pain, or simply PLAY — this discussion is for you.
