Queer Magic, Erotic Pain Processing, and Leather Pride

Tarot spread created by Lee

Hello beautiful beings, This past week I did something for the first time - I put one of tarot spreads out into the world. This This past week I did something for the first time - I put one of tarot spreads out into the world. The RACK tarot spread is a way to examine risk, awareness, consent, and the kinks in our life using tarot cards, whether doing divination or as journaling prompts... or even if looking for inspiration when planning an erotic encounter with a partner. Combining this with attending a great tarot class with Kaí Henderson from Our Daily Magic that was incredibly soul satisfying, I keep being reminded moment after moment about the power of tarot, magic, and queerness.

Queerness you say? Yes. Because this past week also held Transgender Day of Visibility. Many transgender people are not queer, but for me the two are woven into one another. My existence is interwoven with magic, the act of gender journeying being inherently transgressive to some and thus full of power and magic. Mistress Simone talked about the power of femme dominance when I interviewed her on my podcast episode titled, "Magic, Power and Femme Mystique with Mistress Simone," and I touch on gender and power in my poem, "Feri Magic: Wild Magic," from my poetry collection, On Starry Thighs: Sacred and Sensual Poetry. But the history of queerness is all the more powerful when I view it under the lens of those who came before. My path would not be possible without those before me, and its why I feel so honored to have gotten to publish two essays by two-spirit and queer elders in the Queer Magic: Power Beyond Boundaries... and you can read the complete interviews here:

  • Interview with c. hall, a shoshone elder and one of the founder of gai, the gay american indian caucus. An abbreviated version of this interview is included in Queer Magic
  • Interview with Blackberri, a Queer Activist and Lucumi Elder. An abbreviated version of this interview is included in Queer Magic

Finally, I want to plug an amazing tarot reader and activist on issues queerness, race, root working, hoodoo, and more - Cyree Terell of Temperance Queer Tarot. They are now offering a  Queer Tarot Mentorships fir individuals interested in digging deep into their practice, looking to address their blind spots, or looking to learn for the first time with someone outside of a cisgender heteronormative tarot lens. Please check them out. Meanwhile... In the past few weeks over on Patreon, I have had a chance to connect with my Patrons regularly though:

Also...SUNDAY April 3rd is the FINAL day for the fundraiser/pre-sale book "The Art of Chain: A Guide to Steel Restraint." It is being my honor to get to publish your project and this weekend is your last chance to be involved.

Each of us processes pain and intense sensations in different ways. Some of us scream, some go silent, and some laugh with glee. Some focus on the connection we have with our partners and go stoic, while others dance, writhe, and squirm to let the pain come out through movement. From distracting ourselves with other thoughts or body inputs, to breathing techniques we will discuss how different individuals process pain and how to increase your own effectiveness in transmuting pain into pleasure, suffering, or erotic connection.
