Kestrel

I lay you
out
I lay me out before you
heart in one hand
and a bottle of Merlot in the other

Stretched
out
before me I take away your sight
take away your breath
take away your dignity
and then slip it back
sip it back
drop by drop from my glass

Offered
out
your body becomes my tray
my sustenance
and holds the hopes of what
can
will
be for the world

We are
out
exposed for no one
in the world
but us to see
as I slip into you
slip in sip in
and spit out and down the funnel
that is your being

Don’t let it
out
hold me in
take me in
let me get you drunk
on my love

Don’t let it
out
keep me inside you
into your very bowels
into your very soul
let me impregnate you
with possibilities

Let it all
let it all
come on baby now
let it all
out

Drained
drunk
you let the Kestrel
out
and fall at my feet
in a heap
truer than any poem.
